Given Voice By Committed Member: Jennifer Clark
Mission:
Coldwater is a faith-based, 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization that serves Lee’s Summit and surrounding communities. Our mission to is to build friendships that foster hope in our community. We build those friendships and foster that hope by connecting with our neighbors and their needs. We operate a food
pantry and a clothes closet, offer emergency food during the week and provide weekend backpacks for hungry school children. During the summer months, we offer a non-competitive T-ball program (League of Smiles) and summer lunches and bar-b-que dinners to local neighborhoods.
“I must be willing to give whatever it takes to do good to others. This requires that I be willing to give until it hurts. Otherwise, there is no true love in me, and I bring injustice, not peace, to those around me.”
- Mother Teresa
100% of Funding Provided by 100 Voices Who Care to be used for:
Coldwater will use the funds to purchase food for our Friends Day hot meals.
They will use the funding to assist with purchasing food for the hot lunch. They have served a hot meal to the Friends who visit the pantry and clothing closet Saturdays for the past 15 years. With the cost of food going up, the number of families who need assistance going up and providing a nutritious meal has become expensive. They would love to continue to provide a hot lunch to everyone who walks in their doors.
Before COVID-19 they fed only the family members that visited the pantry. Now they send meals home to everyone.
The Friends Day Meal provides about 300 meals a month.
They are seeing a rising need and were seeking immediate help.
They feel this opportunity to provide a hot meal accomplishes several things. 1) A free meal for the whole family. 2) A well balanced and nutritious meal and 3) An opportunity for the family to eat together.
